BOSS GP in Assen: A Summary

After the sobering results from Monza, we naturally had some catching up to do at the BOSS GP season highlight in Assen.

But before going to Assen, the team had a lot to do to get the vehicles ready for racing again. Starting with both Benettons up to Veronika's GP2, which was completely rebuilt, and subsequent test drives at the Slovakia Ring. Ultimately, time was too short to get both Benettons ready, so we only went to the start with one while the other waits for its engine overhaul.

In Assen, for noise protection reasons, all sessions are held on the weekend, and so free practice only took place on Saturday morning. While Wolfgang Jaksch drove the 8th fastest time with 1:29.387, Veronika was once again disappointed to have to park her GP2 after the 2nd lap due to hydraulic problems.

For Wolfgang, it then went into qualifying on new tires, but he could not improve his time (1:29.450) and had to settle for 12th place. In the first race, however, Wolfgang was able to fight his way up to 9th place.

In a night shift, a replacement vehicle was then built for Veronika, so she was at least able to go to the start in race 2 together with Wolfgang. But here too, the joy was only short-lived after she collided with Walter Stedding in lap 2 and retired prematurely again. Wolfgang, meanwhile, struggled with a failed hydraulic cooling system and ultimately had to settle for 12th place.

Again not the best racing weekend for us, but at least an upward trend.

See you on September 10th and 11th in Brno, CZ!
